Poetry: My Land

For as many years as I’ve walked this earth I’ve walked with magical footsteps

The line between this world and the one before us blurred in rhythmic harmony

On me by my land my home my lovers

Overlapping moments of music and unknown quantities and the rush of windchimes

In gum trees and ancient beech echo the starlight and moonshine and a spell is cast

On me by my land my home my lovers

They bless me with quiet whispers of knowledge and I dance to their beat and flute

The God of love always ahead of me ankle bells glittering with trickled bright sounds

On me by my land my home my lovers

Do I follow one path or another I ask the sky and clouded it may be but I am answered

By the light prickles of bindis beneath my feet or the sweet scent of lavender laid

On me by my land my home my lovers

And in tangled vines I finally stop held down to this Earth by old root and new leaves

Grow he tells me in dulcet voice caramel smooth grow and be stronger the music plays

On me by my land my home my lovers
