Poetry: Delicious Tea

Seeing you was a jolt of lightning

A crossbow bolt to my heart

And what was still started moving

Beating in time to a rhythm and a dance that

Only the river truly knows

And she winds her way through the city

Reflecting bright around trees

Hazy in the high tide

Water blurring some strange old memories

And making new ones

It’s a wild ride

Taking the river home

At great cost this I know to be true

I hear her babbling brooks

And chattering channels

Whispering to me and slightly

Knocking me off course

Navigating me through the rapids

Safe to the Pacific on the other side

You make delicious tea, Knife Ears

Although next time I need to remember

To wear stockings

I was cold
