Poetry: He Walked Away

Beneath a moonlit sky

Two lovers met amongst sweet roses

And whispered in each other’s ears

Of fickle commands and flying carpets

Rich rubies and sweetened sandesh

The blush of innocence in her cheeks

Meeting her lover’s eyes and glancing off

His beauty as he walked away

Into the forest of ever unknown delights

Leaving her in restless sleep on the debris of broken dreams
