Flightless

Just when we were set to take flight I felt a pull to the Earth and I saw a sudden light

And I won’t pretend I didn’t steal all my own dreams grasping eyes wide open at the seams

Did it hurt you when I finally touched the ground when I spoke did your heart race and bound

I wish I knew where you were my lover my dearest heart but all I know is the quiet endless spacious dark

And I send you a card signed with my name the same sigil for all who must go their own way

A deck of larks birds which sung prettily and flew away maybe they burned like sparks

I wish I could have flown away to you contrary to popular belief I am not heartless

But I am flightless

With love xoxo
