I went for a walk in the woods and discovered that I’d lost my way
And when I looked all I could see was the bitter end of a foggy day
The sunlight was stranding through the trees in mysterious little wisps
Like steam rising from the hot open pores in the earth swirling like hips
And emerging from the trees wild and misshapen his words forgotten
My lover’s head splits sideways and his eyes follow me struggling
The meaning I make of the pathways before me shifts and changes
Clasping and unclasping grasping and ungrasping stalking me by stages
A church of rock, leaf and thorned vines transforming in parts
And he waits for me in the forest between the trodden paths
Tail flicking side-to-side waiting for me to discover I’d found my way
