On The Big Screen

It’s a wonderful thing to be in a room chock right full of change

Daydream on the big screen roaring for people to hear our call

And if I could, as a guest, make just one request and to you impress

Please listen and mend please be a friend please retract the tiger’s claw

//

It’s hard enough to ask for support when the winds blow on you like breeze to a feather

When they bear down on you with the fury of a shark that’s toothy the burden is impossible to weather

So if you hear a story that makes you sorry don’t assume you have an answer

Look to others who fought that fight and ask them who are to the right healers to gather

I’m grateful to you and I’m feeling lucky for me and I’m awash in all the good intentions

But the truth is not simple it’s complex it has wrinkles and in good clean wash it stains and it mingles

At conferences in hallways theatres and across the causeways

//

One way to approach dye stained clothes is sometimes to change them to tie dyed rainbows

So to the people I spoke to whose work I wrote to and to the leaders and teachers I look to for guidance I hope you

Feel the love and not the burn let the winds of change take a long turn into your heart so you can

Take a breath, listen to what she said and make the words “I believe you” be written and not just read
