Poetry: Good Morning

Staying in bed on a sunny morning feels amazing

There’s nothing quite like clean cool sheets unwinding

To find a girl sweet inside them

Hair tangled slightly within

Hands that are as soft and clean as dawnshine

Peeking through windows clouded in line

Shapes drawn on glass in a late and long shower

Resting a head stressed and sanguine together

The bitter scent of coffee and peanut-butter banana cake

For breakfast and dances to Taylor Swift in mid-year break

The drums of war may beat outside my door

Dreaming of sweet things I rest safe and pure

The rising sun enlightens all in the end

There’s no broken heart that won’t one day mend

So good morning, my dears

Let the sunlight in

And have a good day
